Shared cow adoption

Every cow has a name.
Every name has a story.

Gopa is a shared adoption network for cows in protected gaushalas across India. Choose a cow. Begin a monthly gift. Receive their photographs, their care, and their story in your hand.

What Gopa is

Gopa partners with gaushalas across India — sanctuaries that protect cows for their whole lives — and lets people anywhere in the world become a shared guardian of a single cow.

One hundred percent of every monthly adoption gift reaches the gaushala caring for the cow you adopt. Our operations are funded separately, transparently, by the Founding Circle and project donors.

We are a registered charitable trust. Every rupee, every cow, every caretaker is publicly accounted for in our monthly transparency report.

How adoption works

Four small steps, then a long relationship.

  1. 01

    Choose a cow.

Browse the cows in the Gopa app and meet the one whose story finds you.

  2. 02

    Begin a monthly gift.

$6.90 a month, fully directed to the gaushala caring for the cow you adopt.

  3. 03

    Receive their care.

Photographs, health notes, and small updates from the caretakers — three or four times a month.

  4. 04

    Visit, if you can.

Many gaushalas welcome guardians. Some have flown across the world.

A note from the founder

“Every cow we have ever met had a name before we arrived. Gopa is the small structure we built so that more of the world could call them by it.”

— Jayananda, founder

Beyond adoption

Adoption supports the cow.
Your gift to Gopa supports the people building this.

Project donations fund the platform, the team that onboards new gaushalas, the visits that verify their care, and the operations that let one hundred percent of adoption gifts reach the cows.

Gopa is built and sustained by a circle of humans — Trustees, Advisors, Volunteers, Ambassadors, and the Founding Circle who fund our growth.
